In 1996 a group of campaigners came up with a simple idea to capture a female vision for society. They asked one question “what do you want?” on the back of a postcard and distributed thousands of these cards to women across the UK. The campaign was backed by Anita Roddick (and the The Body Shop) along with the Co-op Bank, Cosmopolitan magazine and many others.

10,000 British women replied, making it one of the biggest ever surveys of British female opinion. Two decades later, in March 2016, the What Women Want 2.0 survey was launched – aiming to reach over one million British women before the campaign is taken global.
