Organic Pleasures profiles Lucy Tanat-Jones, the owner of a luxury erotic boutique in Edinburgh’s refined New Town specialising in organic and non-toxic products.
Lucy’s boutique was the first shop in Europe to exclusively stock only organic sex toys. The idea behind it was to offer women an alternative to the cheaply made, mass-produced toys sold on the high street. These use phthalates, a kind of plastic softener. Phthalates were restricted for use in children’s toys in 2007 but for unfathomable reasons are still allowed in the adult toy industry – particularly alarming when you discover that heat releases these toxic chemicals.
Lucy is a young entrepreneur with a strong commitment to the environment and women’s health as well as a wonderful sense of humour and some very happy customers.
