Client: BBC Two // Mosaic Films
Year: 2013

A series of six short documentary films, narrated by Romola Garai, exploring the rights and wrongs of some of life’s biggest questions – from capital punishment to animal testing. These films present some very different viewpoints, drawn from the personal experiences of individuals on both sides of the debate.

This film poses the question: when is it right to go to war? Patrick was 18 years old when New York was attacked on September 11th 2001. As a direct result of those events he left his college course and joined the US Army, believing that this was the best way to defend his country. Terry lost her younger sister in those same attacks, but she believes that war is never the solution to conflict, and continuously campaigns for peace today. Two sides of the debate. Two opposing answers to the same question.

All of the films in the series can be viewed on the BBC website. Matters of Life & Death was nominated for a BAFTA (2014).
